Knit-a-thon: Frequently Asked Questions

Did I hear right that there is an in-person event this year?

You bet!  This is our first year hosting an in-person launch event and we want you to be there!  The event is Saturday, January  4th from 9 am – 9 pm.  Yes, you read that right! It’s 12 hours of competing to see how many pieces you can knit!  There will be prizes, food, beverages and even Yarn Over is coming out to join the fun!

How many registration packages do I need?

You will need to purchase one registration package for each member of your team.

How do we register as a team? Do we have to pay all at one time?

You can register/pay all at once or each purchase your own at different times but you must have the same team name entered on your form at the time of purchase to be considered a team.

Do I get a tax receipt for my registration?

Yes! We’ve made changes this year and your registration fee is now a donation meaning you will receive a tax receipt for the full amount.

Our team has a mix of knitters/crocheters. Is that allowed with the new prizes?

Absolutely! We will register your team under the majority (ie. 3 knitters and 1 crochet = knitting team). If you have two of each you would be classified as crochet which is typically a faster art.

If I register as a team am I still eligible to win individual prizes?

Yes, the individual prizes are for all participants, so if you miss out on a team prize, you could still win an individual prize.

When/how can I register?

You can register anytime before January 6th at midnight on our registration page or in person on January 4th at 1909 Ottawa Street in Regina between 9 am – 9 pm.

I’m not comfortable using my credit card online, is there another option?

Yes! You can send us an e-transfer to info@maybelldevelopments.com for $25 per person.  Please write your team name in the memo and send a follow-up email with your contact information (email, phone number and mailing address).

If you like to kick it really old school, you can send a cheque and the above information by Canada Post to:  1909 Ottawa Street – Suite B, Regina, SK, S4P 1P7.  Please no cash and make sure you mail it by December 25th!

Is it possible to have my package mailed out?

We are not mailing packages for this event so we are able to keep costs down and put the money where it needs to be, in our community.

How do I get my registration package?

You can pick up your package at MayBell Developments between 9 am – 9 pm on January 4th.

What do I do if I run out of yarn?

You have two choices.  Use some of your own yarn stash or use your discount card at Yarn Over, 3434B Regina Ave, Regina.

If I use my own yarn what weight/type should it be?

Our sponsor at Yarn Over has provided us with worsted-weight, machine-washable yarn.  If you choose to use your own please ensure it is something easy to care for (ie. machine washable).  The weight is up to you depending on your gauge.

Can I start early if I use my own yarn?

Please don’t, we want everyone to have equal opportunity in this competition.  It’s no fun if some are cheating by knitting/crocheting outside of the event.

On that note, if you have items you’ve knit outside of the competition and you would like to donate them without having them count towards your total we would be happy to add them to our distribution. Just let us know not to count them when you drop them off.

Do I have to use one of your patterns?

Absolutely not!  If you have a pattern you prefer go ahead and use that! We provide patterns to give you an idea of what we are looking for and to help you out if you don’t already have one.

I’ve made my last stitch.  What do I do with my finished toques, mitts, and scarves?

We will have two days available for you to drop off your toques at Yarn Over on February 6th 6 pm -8 pm or February 8th 10 am – 12 pm.

More questions? Email us and we will add them to this page!
